Three weeks ago while Joshua was on his way to work, the Bolt driver that was driving him to the office suddenly parked by the road side and asked him to get out. Mind you, he was halfway close to his destination.

Joshua’s initial reaction was that of surprise. And then the anger set in. He refused to alight from the vehicle, insisting that the driver must explain why he was ending the trip in the middle of the road where it would obviously not be easy to get another ride.

“It’s my car and I can do whatever I want with it. Moreover, I am not comfortable with the fact that you are sitting there in the back seat of my car, pressing your phone and acting as if you are the car owner. You are not even engaging in a conversation with me,” the driver said.

At the end of the back and forth, Joshua paid the driver and ended up trekking under the sun to his office. That was the last time he used Bolt.

Different types of Bolt Drivers on Lagos Roads

Indeed, there are different types of Bolt drivers plying the streets of Lagos. Most of them basically just have very obnoxious characters just as the driver that was mentioned earlier. Let’s take a quick look at these Bolt drivers.

Bolt drivers in Lagos

Rude Bolt Drivers

Of course, we just have to start with this group of Bolt drivers because there are just too many of them. These drivers do not believe in the saying that the customer is king. They will shout at you at the slightest of provocation. As a matter of fact, there is little or no difference between these type of Bolt drivers and bus conductors in Lagos because they are just as uncouth and rude.

The ones that will never call

Some Bolt drivers would never call you. After you book them, they will refuse to drive towards your pickup location. Instead, they will wait for you to call them to tell them where you are and where you are going. If you book this type of drivers and move on to other things with hopes that they are coming, my dear you will end of wasting your time. This brings us to the next category of Bolt drivers.

The Bolt drivers that will waste your time

This set of Bolt drivers do not understand what it means to be time-conscious. I once booked a ride because I needed to be in the office before 9 am. After I was connected to the driver by the app, I even called him and he assured me that he almost close to my street. So, I gathered my stuff and rushed where I waited for five minutes without seeing anybody. By the time I checked my app, I realized that the man was nowhere near my house. As a matter of fact, he hadn’t moved an inch from the spot where he was when I booked him. I later got to understand that he was waiting for something…waiting for something while delaying me.

The ones that don’t know how to navigate

Let’s talk about those Bolt drivers who hardly ever know their way around. They will ask you to described every twist and turn to your pickup location. And then after they finally get to you, you will now start the main task of helping to describe the road to your destination. They have Google Map on their phones o. But for some strange reason, they don’t just use it.

The ones that will intentionally follow the wrong routes

There are some Bolt drivers that will purposefully follow the wrong routes just so they can elongate the trip and potentially make more money. These type of drivers may not be much, but you will certainly come across them every now and then. Give them one-star rating!

The ones that are too friendly and talkative

Finally, we’ve come to the good ones. These over-friendly Bolt drivers are just trying to be nice. So cut them some slack. I understand it’s not all the time you are in the mode to talk, yeah? Well, indulge them, especially when they are bringing up interesting topics of conversation.
