We all can agree that Paystack is a fantastic Nigerian brand. It is one of the most innovative fintech startups out of Nigeria and has contributed immensely towards revolutionising the Nigerian financial services industry. As a matter of fact, Paystack is so viable, so much so that it recently attracted the interest of US-based financial services provider (Stripe) which acquired it for more than $200 million.

However, everything about Paystack is not sugar, spice, and everything nice  ―at least not for the customers who use the service on a daily basis. There have been numerous complaints too, especially on Google Play Store and Apple Store. For the purpose of this article, we are going to be looking at 10 horrible appraisals/reviews that have been given by Paystack customers. But before then, let us have a quick overview of the product.

About Paystack

Founded in 2015, Paystack is a Nigerian financial technology which was co-founded  by Shola Akinlade and Ezra Olubi. Informat made available on the company’s website says it specialises in building the technology that will help “Africa’s best businesses grow – from new startups, to market leaders launching new business models.
We make it easy for businesses to accept secure payments from multiple local and global payment channels, and then we provide tools to help you retain existing customers, and acquire new ones.”

Note that some of the biggest brands in Nigeria and elsewhere (including the likes of MTN, Domino’s, Bolt, etc.,) rely on Paystack to facilitate their payment collection from customers. Paystack also serves smaller companies and customers of those companies. It has over 10, 000 downloads on Google Play Store and processes billions of naira in monthly transactions.

Paystack’s major competitors are: Paga, Flutterwave, and Remita.

What are the customers saying?

Paystack has a total of 176 reviews on Google Play Store and 22 ratings on Apple Store, as at the time of writing this piece. Out of the 176 reviews on Google Play Store, customers gave Paystack a collective rating of 3.6 stars out of 5. iPhone users are a lot more favourably-disposed to the app, having given it a collective rating of 3.8 stars out of 5. But the most interesting thing about these ratings is the commentary. Let’s take a look at them below.

Customers’ review of Paystack

A Paystack user identified simply as AugustFairy on Apple Store, left a rather scathing review and even described the app as ‘basic’. He said:

“There are a lot of features that paystack has, why is the app so ordinary and basic? Can the other features be incorporated in the app. Like setting up the store front, editing pages etc. For someone who likes to do everything on their phone like me, the app is not helpful.”

– AugustFairy

“Stupid app. I can’t access my account with the app it keeps showing me to update even when I just updated it this is miserable.”

-Richfolks

“I’m No longer interested pleaseee. It’s a nice app so far, but am no longer interested. I want to log out my bank details but it seems impossible.”

-Nuella Brown.

“Do not use paystack they will freeze your funds without notice and you can’t withdraw your money, My name is Nicholas. Paystack has collapse my cryptocurrency business and I will sue paystack to court with my last money.”

-Song Lyrics

“Please I can’t generate payment link with the app…and I’ve been trying to use web browser, but the paystack long-in page isn’t working at all. Please help me out.”
